Could you or someone you know take part in a new UK pilot designed to detect early signs of dementia and promote better brain health?

Led by Ness Care Group, this free four-week program is open to people aged 75 and over who may be showing signs of mild cognitive impairment. It aims to support both early detection and improved well-being using a simple, accessible approach.

At the heart of the pilot is Eve, a conversational AI that connects with participants via text message or phone call. Over time, Eve gets to know each individual and adapts the way it communicates, offering personalised interaction and support.

What’s the aim?

This pilot hopes to assess whether Eve can spot early cognitive changes and gently guide individuals towards lifestyle changes that have been shown to support brain function, mood, and physical health. Not only will participants have the chance to check in on their memory and mood, but they’ll also be helping shape the future of community health initiatives. There’s also the potential for free access to Eve beyond the pilot for those who take part.

What’s involved?

  • The Eve pilot runs for four weeks.

  • Participants must be aged 75+ and able to receive texts or phone calls on their mobile.

  • Everyone will complete a short phone-based memory test (TICs) and a mood and anxiety check, each taking around 10 minutes, guided by Eve.

  • Based on the results, participants will be placed into either a control group (no further interaction with Eve) or a treatment group (receiving up to five daily texts over four weeks, or calls if preferred).

  • At the end of the pilot, participants will re-take the tests and share their feedback on the experience.
