Living well with dementia is dependent on others to work well with dementia. We are looking for intelligent, versatile and empathetic hosts to meet this brief. You will be required, in your own homes, to meaningfully occupy and engage with a maximum of 4 older people who may be socially isolated and experiencing symptoms associated with moderate dementia, including memory loss. The Filo service operates between the core hours of 9.30 a.m. and 4.30 p.m and during the day you will be required to cook a lunch. It is essential that you have a full driving license and access to a 5 door car. We are particularly looking for hosts who live in or near Cullompton, Teignmouth, Kingsteignton and Newton Abbot.
Experience is not necessary but what you must possess or be is; a good listener, gentle, able to ‘read’ people well, a creative thinker, a creative linker, sense of humour, understanding, good general knowledge, a willingness and openness to learn from clients.
The Filo Project is a new community interest company specialising in small-group day care for older people experiencing memory issues and/or isolation. By working for us, not only will you receive excellent rates of pay and on-going training but also be well supported within our team. You will have the option of working one, two or three days per week.
