Organisation Team Lead

After 25 years as a primary school teacher, I was looking for new options. Having supported my mother-in-law through her dementia journey, the positive stories of clients and their journeys attracted me to the role of Host, which I enjoyed for nearly 6 years.

More recently, I have been both Area Coordinator for East Devon and Team Lead for Somerset. As Organisation Team Lead I am able to offer more support and leadership across The Filo Project with special areas focussing on safeguarding and further developing procedures and processes to support the day-to-day.

Despite no longer hosting, I still really value the days when I meet with clients, families and host groups and am reminded of why The Filo Project is such a special and valued option for caring for those older members of our communities.

My grandmother and mother taught me to sew, knit and crochet and I am rarely without a project. I take a lot of inspiration from the natural environment around me, living in the Blackdown Hills of East Devon. Our thatched cottage is home to my partner Grahame, two sons and myself. I enjoy growing vegetables, fruit and having free-range chickens.
