The role of host is a complex one and we are very particular about the hosts we employ. Each host, therefore, is required to have initiative, sensitivity, intelligence, flexibility, adaptability, empathy and humour. All hosts are thoroughly vetted (DBS) and referenced and live in homes which are accessible. All our hosts continue to be supported, following recruitment, by a programme of on-going mentoring and training.
Part of living or working well with dementia and/or Alzheimer’s disease includes engaging with families, friends or other interested parties. Our hosts are an anchor point during what can be an unsettled period in peoples’ lives. The building of the relationships between host, client and family members adds a welcome element of continuity strengthening stability at this time.
